I spent a night on Cape Clear camping a few weeks ago, in the hope of getting a night shoot in. My first choice was not feasible, so I changed location and shot at the South Harbour. The clouds rolled in after only 9mins of shooting, but I still had just enough data to make a photo. Here is a two pane mosaic of the foreground taken with  60s shot, then 3x 3mins tracked sky shots at 1600ISO, F/4, with a 24mm lens.

Last year Sean O Cearrullain interviewed me for his series on Irish Astrophotographers. I want to thank Sean for giving me the chance to tell my story on how it all started and the crazy lengths I have gone to, to continue taking Astronomy photos. Second light from my TEC140 and Apx60 set up in the remote observatory. This is very exciting. The pixel scale of the telescope and camera give excellent resolution of those small galaxies allowing them to fill the screen.  Here is 18hrs of LRGB taken during May and June. This will be added to the Galaxy Gallery shortly and I'll have prints available at Art Source in November

The Total Solar Eclipse of Aug 12th 2026 was a great success. I went to the Northern Coast of Spain with some friends who had never seen an eclipse. We had a great few days relaxing and getting ready for the big event. My Dutch Astrophotographer friend Maurice Toet and his family joined us as well. We ended up moving on the day due to clouds, but we settled on the reservoir at Los Barrios De Luna, where we had clear skies for the celestial show. Attached is a wide field 24mm shot during totality.

I'll be returning to the RDS for Art Source in November exhibiting at Stand J109 in the main hall. The theme will be Coastal Nightscapes, and I'll be displaying sky shots from various coastal sites in Ireland. Look out for Toms Astrophotography Prints I will also have a selection of the Deep Sky, and Eclipse shots taken down the years available as prints.
