"Starlight and Silhouettes Mega Mosaic"
This is the second of my Mega Mosaics. A 36 (full-frame) mosaic, of LRGB with added Ha data to show the Emission nebula peppered throughout the image.
This photo spans 4 constellations of the Summer skies, Sagittarius, Ophiuchus, Serpens Cauda, and Scutum, and was taken at a focal length of 530mm, showing amazing detail in the nebulae. Some of the most well known Nebulae are seen in the photo. There is the Lagoon, and Trifid nebulae from Sagittarius. The Swan, and the Eagle nebulae from Serpens. The Eagle made famous by the Hubble telescope photo of this nebula. The dark dust lanes of our Milky Way run top to bottom, while to the right, multiple Dark nebulae can be seen. The most well know being the Snake Nebula, B72, in the bottom right corner.
This mosaic took 4 years to complete and contains 110 hours of exposures. It was placed 3rd in the "Stars and Nebulae' category, of the "Astrophotographer of the Year" competition in 2016, which is run by The Greenwich Observatory in Greenwich, London.
Note: All our prints are printed on Baryta 325g Paper, which is an excellent paper for framing. The paper is a gloss type, which gives very vivid colour views.
