Just east of the more photographed Orion Nebula, is the star birth nebula of NGC2170. This very colourful patch of nebulae have regions of gases collapsing to form new stars. In the image, there is an area of emission nebulae at the bottom of the picture, with a mixture of Reflection and Emission nebulae giving the blue, and purple hues. Finally, Dark nebula crisscross the image, giving structure, and the apparent shape of a Butterfly or insect.

This image was taken with the TEC 1m focal length telescope and Atik CCD 490. 9hrs of Black and White data and 12hrs of RGB combined for a 21hr total exposure.

Note: All our prints are printed on Baryta 325g Paper, which is an excellent paper for framing. The paper is a gloss type, which gives very vivid colour views.
